Given the teacher shortage, school districts are seeking to recruit qualified international teachers. This presentations aims to lay a foundation for understanding how foreign-trained candidates can obtain Nebraska Educator Certification.

The Local Food for Schools (LFS) grant provides funding for eligible School Food Authorities (SFAs) to purchase locally unprocessed or minimally processed foods for their National School Lunch Program. If your school opted in to receive LFS funds for the round two allocation (July 2024 - June 2025) then you won't want to miss this session. Guest Speaker FMCSA - Student safety is our top priority. NDE, FMCSA, NSTA, and NSP are working together to effectively bring greater awareness and training opportunities to Nebraska School Districts. FMCSA will provide an overview of Drug & Alcohol Requirements for pupil transportation drivers. NDE will share information regarding upcoming opportunities to learn more about School Bus Inspections and what changes to expect in the future. Children are our future, let's keep them safe!

Per Nebraska Revised Statute 79-2607, the Nebraska Department of Education is developing a statewide professional learning system to ensure that all Nebraska teachers of students from four years of age through third grade are adequately trained regarding evidence-based reading instruction and supported by regional literacy coaches. In this session, attendees will learn how the Nebraska Literacy Project will provide options for districts in meeting the requirements of the legislation as we work together to improve literacy for Nebraska’s children.

ESSER funds are winding down with the deadline of September 30, 2024. If you haven't received all the reimbursement for these funds, come to this session and we'll give you directions on how to hammer down the last shingle or just come to celebrate the completion!
